Trigger Finger in Durango & Pagosa Springs, CO
Triggering of the finger (trigger finger) is a condition in which the tendon develops a nodule as a result of inflammation between the tendon and the tendon pulley. Once a nodule has formed on the tendon, the nodule can get stuck on one side of the pulley during normal tendon excursion. When this happens, pain and locking can occur. Often times, the patient must manually unlock the finger with the other hand.
Treatment options for trigger finger range from rest, splinting, steroid injection, and surgical release of the involved pulley. Dr. Williams completed an additional fellowship in Hand & Microsurgery; as such, he is a Hand Surgeon. Thus he is well qualified to help elucidate the cause of the symptoms which you are experiencing. Through his thorough history and examination, he can recommend extra testing that may need to be done as well as help you navigate the various treatment options which are available.
