Before medical school, Dr. Williams worked simultaneously as the Director of Baptist Student Ministries at Texas A&M University as well as a Research Assistant in Burn Surgery at Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston, Texas. During his time as a Director, he had the opportunity to organize and lead a team of college students to Nuevo Laredo, Texas. During the trip, the team helped build houses for the underprivileged of Nuevo Laredo.

“Trips like these are simply eye opening,” says Dr. Williams. “We never know how much we have as Americans until we see how the underdeveloped (previously known as Third World) lives.”
